mildly entertaining?

June 28, 2008

Our houseguest has officially moved out.  She hasn’t gotten into her apartment just yet, but she’s living with a girl from work who has more room than we had.  It’s nice for the girls to have their playroom back, you may say.  Oh yes, that would be nice.  Except currently I decided to put all the laundry in there.  So long as they like to play in clean laundry, it’s great to have their playroom back.  haha.

My surgery…it’s coming up.  People are asking me all kinds of questions and I’m not sure what to tell them.  We’ll start with my surgeon, Dr Bajaj, she’s awesome.  Here’s a link to read more about her if you’d like.

And the surgery.  St Anthony’s on July 24th.  I’ll be in ICU for three days so I guess I probably won’t be able to have visitors.  I don’t know the rules though, I can only imagine in my twisted little mind, people walking in around me in those white protective suits like on ET when they have him in that bubble tube.  That would be awesome.  Probably not though.

I’ll have a regular hospital room for almost a week, let’s just hope less.  But while I’m there, I’d like to take a photo of the girls, maybe some comforts from home.  I’m open to suggestions.  I don’t think I can paint or do any kind of major renovation.  that’s really too bad.  I mean, if I have to sit in that bed staring at the wall for a week, I should be able to have some say in the color scheme.  I’m just sayin’!  I’ll definitely have pics of the girls to set up, and my laptop.  I could bring my scentstories disk player so that the room smells less like a hospital and more like a tropical island!  We’ll see.

And here’s the miracle of the week for you.  Dr Bajaj’s office receptionist called me yesterday to tell me that I needed to bring $300 with me at my appointment, before surgery.  YIKES!!  So I told some girls I know on my boutique board.  Just ranting, mainly.  Well, 24 hours later, I have three hundred dollars sent to me.  Oh how I adore my friends!  And thanks God for the sweet provision.  He is 100% before me and behind me on this whole thing.  How cool is that?

Alrighty, off for now.  We’re taking the Gracie girl to see Wall-E.  Trinity’s going to the grandparents’!  See you later!

Meet the family

June 22, 2008

VBS week is over, but things didn’t settle down as we welcomed Katie (Chris’ sister) and Jason (her husband) and baby Joby to OKC from NYC.  It was so good to see them and it was the first time we’ve ever met Joby and he is so cute and funny!  He’s 8 months old and he smiles all the time.  I love kissing him because he’s just fat all over.  The girls are head over heels in love with him and several times wished he was “our baby.”

Friday we all took off work to go to breakfast at IHOP with the whole family…wow, that was…interesting.  Joby was great–he didn’t cry, but he did scream (in happiness, a good scream) and Trinity hocked a loogie (sp?) into my hand as I was covering her cough, while Gracie entertained herself by putting every extra straw left on the table into her mouth, and all nine of us ate in record time so that we could make it to the portrait studio for our appointment.

Portrait Innovations is amazing!  We got so many great pictures!  Here are some of the best ones.

Storytime with Ma.  This is one of my favorites, because Janie is the one who buys the kids their bunnies and she is a teacher, so storytime is a priority for our family.

Sweet sisters

Katie, Jason and baby Joby!

Sweet Trinity Maye and her famous pout

The classic entire family portrait

Whew!  I’m exhausted from the family get togethers but it was a really special time.  When we left tonight, Gracie said “Bye, Joby, I’ll see you online!”  It’s nice to know that even if the kids won’t grow up in the same place, they’ll always be able to play peek a boo and giggle at eachother via video chat.

Tomorrow’s Monday so I’m gearing up to head over to Kendra’s house.  Oh how I love Mondays!! Goodnight!

Exhausted.

June 16, 2008

I’m so tired.  I’ll be taking a nap shortly so this will probably not be very long.

On Father’s Day we celebrated by going to church and over to my parents’ house for a family cookout.  This was so wonderful and everyone had a great time.  Then I felt my eye itching.  I scratched it, which made it itch more.  Well, the next thing I know, I feel it start to become all puffy, and in less than 5 minutes I looked like a freak–my eye was all bloodshot, my makeup was smeared, all the way around my eye was swollen like I’d been punched.  Ew.  So then we went to dinner with Chris’ parents and I ended up wearing my sunglasses the entire meal.  Nice.   I went home and took some benadryl and passed out.  This is important information because…

As I was in my Benadryl coma, I heard my sweet baby Trinity crying.  For about a half hour, I’m ashamed to say, I let her cry.  I couldn’t move from the bed.  But then I heard her wimpering.  It was no longer a cry but short, raspy breathing.  I went in to get her and her breathing was labored.  We took her temperature and she had a fever.  I did a breathing treatment on her with her rescue inhaler but it didn’t help.  So I drove her to the ER.  In my Benadryl stupor.  It sucked.  I felt drunk.

So I get there and get her out of the carseat.  By this time her breathing was worse and she was barely getting oxygen.  I knew this from her blue lips and fingertips.  So I rushed her in and told the receptionist “My baby’s not breathing!” which wasn’t exactly true, she was breathing…just not well.  Immediately they had her back in a room and hooked her up to machines.  The doctor ordered a breathing treatment and she started getting color once again.  I was surprisingly calm through all this–would that be the peace that passes all understanding or the Bendadryl?  I’m not sure.

Anyhow, we went home with several prescriptions, one of them being an antibiotic for two ear infections, and the others for lung strength.  My poor child!  She’s fine now but that was so scary! We had about an hour to sleep before we had to get back up and head to the church for VBS.  The girls are restless now but they’re supposed to be napping.  I’m instituting a family nap time…right…now…*yawn*…  Nap nap!

Hello! Where should I start?

June 7, 2008

Let’s see…

Niki’s still here and we’re all learning how to share 1100 square feet.  I really like her a lot, so she’s no trouble at all.

We celebrated Chris’ birthday tonight by eating at Ted’s.  Yum!  I got him some body wash and new cologne. My parents went in with me and the girls to get him an appointment to get his Jeep windows tinted.  His parents got him a gift card to Amazon and a check for some new clothes.

And YAY for Hillary endorsing Obama!  That’s the one thing I can respect about her.  I want you to take 5 minutes and watch this.   When I heard this speech for the first time, I got chills.  The fact that it is now made into a song is awesome.  I love it! Enjoy!

In other news, Gracie got her first big girl haircut.  Of course I took pictures.  It’s adorable.  She’s a real beauty.  Sigh.  And my big girl!  Now I know why my mom cried when I got a real hair cut for the first time–Gracie doesn’t look like a baby anymore and every single one of those baby curls is just…gone.  It’s okay though, I’m enjoying this little kid.  And I really like this kid’s new sassy hair.

And a sissy picture.  Awwww! My cuties!

The tea room, a houseguest, Matilda Jane, and tornadoes.

June 5, 2008

Today we met Janie at A Spot For Tea to celebrate the end of school! Yay!  The girls got all dressed up in tiaras and dresses and we had afternoon tea in the Queen’s Room.  What a treat!

So in February, I “met” a girl through our mutual friend, Mike Delay, on facebook and we became online friends.  She had been at our church for a few months but was studying abroad in Austria.   We kept up with eachother through facebook messaging and then we finally met when she came home and went back to Northview.  Her name is Niki.

Niki and I chatted at church and online.  She had been living in different places, and unfortunately those places weren’t working out.  So I told her to come live with us.  And she did!  So, don’t be jealous, but Niki is living in a pink princess playroom on an air mattress.  She works during the day and does her own thing, but she sleeps here and we even let her shower.  haha.  I like having her here.  She has become the fascination of my girls and they color pictures with her in the mornings while I get ready for the day.  It’s nice to have her around.

Gracie and Niki playing with her laptop:

Have I told you how much I hate tornadoes?  I’m living in the wrong state, really.  There’s a storm moving through and winds are projected over 100 miles an hour.  The weather radio keeps sounding, so I guess we’re not going to get a good night’s sleep tonight.  I am soooo grateful for the storm shelter but I certainly hope I don’t have to see the inside of it tonight.

My obsession with Matilda Jane (www.matildajaneclothing.com) is in full force.   I have spoken with the Oklahoma trunk keeper and we’re going to be scheduling a show soon.  I think we’ll wait till the Fall line comes out and we’ll do a back to school show.  I spoke with Tammy at the tea room today about having it there.  It will be so fun!  I can’t wait!

Alright, that’s it for now.
