I drank two Rockstar energy drinks, a Starbucks frappuccino and a cup of gas station coffee (ick) to stay awake while driving all night last night. I almost hit a few creatures on the old country highways in Texas. All I know is it was 4 in the morning and it was the longest, most podunk stretch of highway I’ve ever driven. Complete with Garth Brooks blaring out the ipod. Soooo not like me, but Garth just seemed really appropriate at the time. LOL
I have just spent a couple days with soldiers on their post at Fort Carson. Every single one of them has given up something precious to be where they are. They relocate, leaving friends and families behind. They train their bodies to undergo strenuous activities and have the ability and presence of mind to endure torture in war if necessary. They give up at least a year of their lives to fight in a war that some of them don’t believe in. Regardless of where they stand in their political views, or where you stand in yours, they are the strength and pride of this country. They lay down their lives for us, everyday, whether we appreciate it or not. My Papa was wounded in war. My dad and uncles were in service during Vietnam. My brother, Matthew, served in Iraq. Remember the soldiers tonight. Remember that the freedom of this country was bought and paid for by the blood of many brave men and women throughout the years. Wow, how lucky we are to be Americans!
