Yesterday Gracie and I were Janie’s guests at a very special Mother’s Day Tea at our favorite tea room. This was my Mother’s Day gift from her! I have pictures, but I left the camera at one of the grandparents houses today so…yah. No pics till later. Sorry.
I will also have pictures of the guys (and a few gals!) working on the roof! Can you believe how all that came together? I’m still in complete awe! Who gets a roof for free? God is soooo good to us!
Today at church I surprised Janie by putting some photos of me and her and another of her with Gracie in the church Mother’s Day slideshow. (I put one of bald-me and the girls too and it was really special. I’m glad I’m not self concious about that!) Church was cool. Tricia, our pastor’s wife, delivered the (powerful) message and Tony, our pastor, led worship. Very different and fun!
Then there was the going out to eat and gift giving…the usual. Nothing weird. I got a beautiful roses-and-daisies bouquet from Chris (again, wish I had the CAMERA!) a day at the spa , a super cool new PURPLE vacuum (woooo!) and some Burt’s Bees stuff. We gave my mom her usual Mother’s Day Plate, and we gave Janie a RSVP for the next Harry Potter book and a gift card to buy it when it comes out. So all in all, a great day. Everyone’s tired. We’re turning in early tonight.

Yes, and no. We weren’t NOT trying, but we weren’t trying. I quit taking bc pills on May 1 and got pregnant May 23. We didn’t realize how easy it would be…
2. WERE YOU MARRIED AT THE TIME?
Yes, we had been married for two years.
3. WHAT WERE YOUR REACTIONS?
Super excited. We didn’t know what to expect, but were up for the adventure!
4. WAS ABORTION AN OPTION FOR YOU?
Never
5. HOW OLD WERE YOU?
I was 24, had just turned 25 when she was born
6. HOW DID YOU FIND OUT YOU WERE PREGNANT?
I packed a box of “girl things” on our Crossmind mission trip to Mexico and never used them. And every morning when we’d eat breakfast, I could barely stomach Corn Pops cereal, let alone eggs and corn tortillas. Gag!
7. WHO DID YOU TELL FIRST?
Chris, I told him on Father’s Day. And Brooke, my sister. She knew.
8. DID YOU WANT TO FIND OUT THE SEX?
Oh yes! But I knew it was a girl!

February 14
10. DID YOU HAVE MORNING SICKNESS?
Yes, some in the first 9 weeks. Not bad though.

Vinegar in the beginning–pickles, balsalmic vinegar on bread, vinegarette dressing…

Haha, I probably shouldn’t say…a kid in our former youth group. He was irritating whether I was pregnant or not…

Oh no, I wanted a little girl!
15. HOW MANY POUNDS DID YOU GAIN THROUGHOUT THE PREGNANCY?
I gained about 40 pounds. Yikes!
16. DID YOU HAVE A BABY SHOWER?
Yes several of them
17. WAS IT A SURPRISE OR DID YOU KNOW?
I knew about a few of them. But my biggest one was the entire church during worship one day and we had no idea. Gifts lined the altar, and people gave us almost $1000. We also didn’t buy diapers for the first year, there were packs of every size!
18. DID YOU HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS DURING YOUR PREGNANCY?
Not one!
19. WHERE DID YOU GIVE BIRTH?
in our old house, in a warm bath!
20. HOW MANY HOURS WERE YOU IN LABOR? My water broke first, but it didn’t put me into active labor, so I guess you could say maybe 8 hours, but I only really felt like it was labor for around 3. I just slept through it.
21. WHO DROVE YOU TO THE HOSPITAL?
We didn’t need to go to the hospital…
22. WHO WATCHED YOU GIVE BIRTH?
Chris, my mom, my mother in law, and Margarett and Anne, the midwives
23. WAS IT NATURAL OR C-SECTION?
natural baby!
24. DID YOU TAKE MEDICINE TO EASE THE PAIN?
no, I didn’t need it. I did take some Tylenol afterward though.
27. HOW MUCH DID YOUR CHILD WEIGH??
7lbs, 2 oz.
28. DID YOUR CHILD HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS??
no, she was perfect
