April 4, 2007

I was not happy with the portraits.  The quality was terrible and I could have taken better pictures of the girls!  Here’s the letter I sent today:

I have been using Picture People for 4 years, since my oldest daughter was a newborn.  Quail Springs was my studio and we had the same photographer for those 4 years, but since they closed, I thought I would give Penn Square another try.  First of all, they didn’t have any Easter props!  I was shocked since Picture People is all about props and that’s the fun of going there for the kids.  Second, our photographer was very strange.  He kept doing Napoleon Dynamite impressions, but my children are too young (and I apparently am too old!) to find that amusing.  The pictures are awful as I have come to expect from the  Penn Square location. I bought some prtrait sheets in desperation to have Easter pictures for the family, but the more I look at them the more I hate them. In a side by side comparison of the recent Easter photos (at Penn) and last Christmas (QS location) they are blurry, off center, shadowed, have strange lighting, etc.  I have never been completely thrilled with Penn Square but it was my only option now that my Quail Springs is gone.  We have given you exclusive portrait business for four years and with referals for other people to try them as well!  I’ve recommended Picture People on my family blog and to all the mothers at preschool and gymnastics! But I just can’t keep going back and expending energy to get the girls dressed and up to the mall if the portraits are going to always look this bad.  I have decided to return the portraits to the store for a refund and find a new portrait studio.  I am not a hard to please customer, but I do feel that the quality of the photographers, poses, props and backgrounds, and the photos themselves have been severely compromised.  Thank you for the last four years of captured milestones, but I will no longer recommend Picture People to friends or patronize your studios. One day I would like to return, but I’ll need to see proof that things are changing first.  Thank you.
